TME Hands-on Imaging Workshop

Audience:         Ph.D. Students and Young Scientists

 

Anticipated

Attendance:      30-40 plus Support Staff

 

Objectives:

·         To increase awareness of image-based methods for assessment of the tumour microenvironment and accelerate their use in radiation research.

·         This workshop is intended to provide the mix of expertise and technical environment that will stimulate discussions regarding the methods and tools used by experts in the field. 

·         Disseminating knowledge and tips/tools for employing these methods in pre-clinical cancer models is a primary objective.

 

Agenda

 

9:00-12:00         Hands-on Workshop - Techniques/Issues

 

Format:

·         Modality Expert(s) for Each Workstation Discussion

·         A Group of 5-6 people at the Workstation

·         6-7 Stations with the Groups Rotating Every ½ Hour

·         Slide-supported discussion of Biology, Technology, and Methods in a Stimulating Environment

·         Microenvironment Hands-on Discussions in the STTARR Laboratory ( www.sttarr.ca):

o        Optical/Window Chamber

o        Magnetic Resonance Imaging Methods

o        Computed Tomography for Intratumoral Transport

o        Positron Emission Tomography –Hypoxia and More

o        Single Photon Emission CT

o        Pre-clinical Image-guided Radiation Therapy – Animal Models of RT

o        Ultrasound Methods – Vascular and Therapy

 

12:00-1:00         Box Lunch  

 

You will have the opportunity for follow-up on conversations with between students and expert staff.

 

1:00-4:00           The Science – Hypotheses/Results – 4th floor

 

Format

Four expert speakers in 1.5 hours with a focus on technology enabled biology.
